Doccia sweetmeat dishes of complex geometric form with a scroll handle,
decorated with panels of gilded flowers. L: 4.75", 12 cm c.1760-70 Candied blossoms such as violet and rose petals, small candied fruits or fruit glazed with egg white and dipped in sugar may have been placed in these to tempt the eye and the palette. |
