jug printed with a brig, a ship with two masts carrying fore and aft
rig, and coloured with yellow hull and flying the red ensign, the Sailor's Farewell on the reverse and the name Nicholas Taylor under the spout. c.1801-10 Ht: 28 cm. The design of the Red Ensign, with the red diagonal cross of St Patrick in the Union flag was adopted after 1801 and the act of Union with Irelend.   |
